2026 Hyundai i20 Spied Testing in India – Fresh Design and Updated Features Expected
Hyundai Motor India Ltd seems to be preparing to update its premium hatchback to make it more appealing. We are talking about the 2026 Hyundai i20, which could launch three years after the current model. Test mules of the upcoming i20 have been spied in India for the first time, giving us a sneak peek at what to expect.
2026 Hyundai i20 Spied Testing
Thanks to automotive enthusiast Praveen, we now have the first spy shots of the 2026 Hyundai i20. This test mule is fully camouflaged, leaving only a few design cues visible. It was spotted on the roads of Gurugram, Haryana, featuring red temporary registration plates from the state.

The rear and side profile of the car is the main revelation made through the spy shots. Such characteristics as the lack of roof rails, tapering side profile, curved overall shape, and wide mid-to-lower positioning suggest that this is probably a hatchback rather than an SUV. Hyundai has only one hatchback that matches this profile and requires a design overhaul in order to compete against its competitors such as the Tata Altroz facelift.
What The Hyundai i20 of 2026 Should be.
Although SUVs are gaining popularity in India, hatchbacks such as the i20 are unique to the buyers. The present i20 comes in both regular Vanilla and sporty N Line.
The 2026 Hyundai i20 is expected to feature:
- A new front fascia and revised rear design
- Modern Hyundai design language
- Side silhouette largely retained
- New alloy wheel designs
- Updated dashboard layout with dual 10.2-inch TFT clusters (one for infotainment, one for instrumentation)
Likely Feature Updates:
- 360-degree camera system (hinted in spy shots)
- Ventilated front seats
- Level-1 ADAS suite (similar to current Hyundai Venue)
- Panoramic sunroof
- Advanced telematics and connected car features

Expected Powertrains:
- 1.2L NA Petrol engine, paired with 5MT or CVT
- N Line variant: 1.0L Turbo Petrol, paired with 6MT or 7DCT
- Sporty suspension, rear disc brakes, stiffer steering
- Throatier exhaust and N Line-specific design elements
The Hyundai i20 2026 is coming out to be a promising hatchback to the Indian consumers. Having a new design, current features, the sporty N Line version, it will remain competitive in the high-end hatchback segment and attract both the everyday and performance-focused customers.
