TVS Motor Company has already introduced its new brand-new Orbiter Electric Scooter in India. The Orbiter, costing less than 1 lakh, is offered with a realistic range of 115 km, a sleek design, and an upgrade of features, making it the today most affordable but balanced electric two-wheeler in the market.
Launch Highlights
The TVS Orbiter Electric Scooter is actually released after months of expectations. It is presented as a Budget Balanced EV by TVS, aimed at making the right balance between affordability, practicality and performance in the everyday commuter.
Battery and Range
This is an impressive 158 km IDC-certified range as the Orbiter is driven by a 3.1 kWh fixed battery pack. The real-world riding conditions could allow the user about 115 km per full charge. Another aspect that has enabled TVS to optimize efficiency is the lightness of the body and the slimmer tyres that do not affect stability at the expense of reducing range.

Performance
The Orbiter has a top speed of 68 km/h, powered by a BLDC motor and accelerates 040km/h in 6.8 seconds. The riders have an option of Eco and City mode based on whether they want efficiency or performance.
The only demerit though is that TVS has remained with the BLDC technology, whereas most of its competitors have moved on to the newer and more efficient PMSM motors.
Design and Build
Regarding the aspect of styling, the Orbiter is unique and is a modern TVS scooter that stands out among all other models. The front fascia has LED headlights in the handlebar with a DRL and indicator combo like in a modern car. A smooth LED strip tail lamp will act as indicators at the back, which contributes to the high quality of the scooter.

Another high point is the scooter is practical with a 34-litre boot area, which is capable of holding two half-face helmets. The area of the seat that fits very wide, flat and comfortable is because of the 845 mm height of the seat.
Features
The TVS Orbiter is not only about range but also includes a myriad of features that are modern as they include:
Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation
Cruise Control and kicks on over 25 km/h.
Hill Hold Assist for better control on slopes
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Reverse Mode for easy manoeuvring
Call and SMS alerts
Fully digital instrument cluster
Mobile Application Integration such as live location tracking, geo-fencing, crash/fall alerts, and SOS call support.
These characteristics ensure that the Orbiter is one of the most technology-saturated electric scooters of its cost range.
Price and Variants
The Orbiter is priced at 99,990 (ex-showroom), by TVS. Buyers have the option to select one of six colour choices, three dual-tone and three standard. Interestingly, the company has assured that it is no introductory price but rather a fixed pricing strategy.
Key Highlights
Affordable EV with a price tag under ₹1 lakh
IDC range of 158 km and real-world range of 115 km
Premium features like Cruise Control, Hill Hold Assist, and TPMS
New and trendy design which is unique in the EV market.

Drawbacks
Although the Orbiter has an impressive package, it is not free of compromises:
Still is still on BLDC motor, rather than using PMSM.
Only has offers of drum brakes and does not have disc brake option.
Top speed of 68 km/h which might not suit the performance oriented riders.
TVS orbiter electric scooter is a smart and sensible product to use by urban commuters. Its eye-catching price, sleek design and the inclusion of numerous features can appeal to a broad range of consumers, particularly those who seek an inexpensive EV to commute to the city every day.
