Renault to launch next-gen Duster, 7-seater Boreal SUV & Kwid EV in India by 2026. Check specs, engines, features & expected launch timelines.
Renault is gearing up for an exciting phase in the Indian market. Following the mid-life facelift updates of the Kiger and Triber, the French automaker is now preparing three major launches: two all-new SUVs and an electric hatchback. These vehicles are expected to make Renault a stronger contender in the highly competitive SUV and EV segments. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Renault cars in India.
1. All-New Renault Duster
The upcoming Renault Duster is due to be launched in early 2026 in India. It is arguably one of the most expected SUV in the country and is in the road tests.

- Design & Platform: SUV shall be bold and rugged like the global-spec Duster with slight Indian modifications. It will be premised on the CMF-B platform.
- Engine & Powertrain: The first version will be petrol only with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine with a maximum output of 154 bhp and a torque of 250 Nm. An intermediate form can come later.
- Highlights: The new design, better interior, and smooth ride make the Duster a potential rival of such SUVs as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata Harrier.
2. Renault Boreal 7-Seater SUV
Along with the Duster, Renault is developing a new 7-seater SUV which the company internally calls the Boreal to be introduced in the second half of 2026.
- Design/space: The three row SUV will be longer in wheelbase than the 5 seater duster with enough space in the cabin to fit families.
- Engine Choices: The powertrain choices are the 1.3-litre turbo petrol (154 bhp) and internationally available 1.6 litre petrol strong hybrid (155 bhp), but the later is being considered in India.
- Platform: The Boreal, similar to the Duster, will be anchored on the CMF-B platform, which will offer modern dynamics and safety.
The target audience of this SUV is probably those buyers, who seek the luxury family oriented SUVs in mid-size segment.
3. Renault Kwid EV
The Renault Kwid electric has been rumored upon for months. Recent spy shots indicate that it may be soon to be launched in India but an exact schedule has yet to be definitively confirmed.
- Design: The Kwid EV resembles the ICE Kwid with few design changes to accommodate the electric powertrain.
- Battery/ Range: It has been claimed it could form the basis of the Dacia Spring EV, with a 26.8 kWh battery and a claimed range of 225km per charge.
- Significance: The Renault Kwid EV could target the low-end EV segment, and compete against other EVs that are available in the Indian market, including the Tata Tiago EV and Mahindra e2o Plus, and thereby make EV ownership accessible to Indian buyers.
Why These Launches मैटर

The future launches of Renault spell out a tilt towards SUVs and EVs. The family SUV is an opportunity that Renault can exploit with the Duster and Boreal and the Kwid EV opens up the affordable EV market, which is rapidly expanding in India.
New design, robust engines, hybrid technology and electric mobility will help Renault to be better represented and attractive to a greater number of Indian shoppers.
