Mini Convertible India Launch Overview
BMW India has formally introduced the all new Mini Convertible in the country which has also consolidated its niche premium portfolio. The open-top is a unit that has been introduced in the form of a fully complete unit (CBU), and can now be booked in all BMW India authorised dealerships, and the delivery will begin instantly. The new Mini Convertible is positioned as one of the offerings that are lifestyle-oriented and offers open-top motoring, unique design, and powerful performance to the Indian market.
Open-Top Driving With Classic Mini Design
To remain faithful to the tradition of Mini as an iconic brand, the new Convertible will be designed with classic stylistic features including round LED headlamps, a restyled front grille and compact proportions with short overhangs. The soft-top roof can be completely opened within 18 seconds, even when travelling at a speed up to 30 kmph and it also allows a sunroof-like partially open position. With the roof down the boot has 160 litres of space and this increases to 215 litres when the roof is closed.
The car will be available in four external colour choices which include British racing green, Chili red, sunny side yellow and Ocean wave green with contrasting mirror caps. In the rear, it has vertically aligned LED tail lamps and a broader stance which reinforces the sportiness the Convertible has.
Premium Interior, Technology and Performance
Inside, the new Mini Convertible has a clean and minimalistic interior, based upon the classic Mini. The most interesting is the circular OLED touchscreen known as the Mini Interaction Unit, which is the combination of the instrument cluster and infotainment system in a single display. With the Mini Operating System 9, the interface is smartphone-like, it supports voice recognition through the Hey Mini feature, has wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and is connected.
Additional highlights are a head up display, Harman Kardon surround audio system, wireless charging, digital key technology, several Mini Experience Modes, sports seats with electric adjustment, and wide range of connected-car services. The cabin will provide a high-quality and fun driving experience without losing the playful nature of Mini. The Mini Convertible S is powered by Performance and Driving Experience 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine that has 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. It is also fitted with an engine and a 7 speed dual clutch automatic that allows the car to accelerate between 0-100 kmph within 6.9 seconds, and its top speed is 240 kmph. The go-kart handling that is the trademark of Mini is also a major highlight with several drive modes such as Go-Kart, Green and Vivid modes.
