Hyundai is preparing to introduce the Hyundai Bayon in the Indian market as a compact crossover positioned below the Hyundai Venue. Built on the same platform as the Hyundai i20, the Bayon shares multiple components and interior elements with the premium hatchback while offering the stance and practicality of a crossover. In India, the Hyundai Bayon will directly compete with cars like the Maruti Fronx, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Kia Sonet, targeting customers who want a stylish SUV-like vehicle at a lower budget.
Hyundai Bayon Engine Options and Performance
The Hyundai Bayon will be offered with two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces around 120 BHP and 172 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful cars in its segment. This engine will come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, helping improve fuel efficiency and smooth start-stop operation. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and 6-speed DCT automatic, with a claimed mileage of 18–20 kmpl.
The second engine option will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generating approximately 83–84 BHP. This engine is focused on comfort and reliability rather than performance and will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It will mainly be available in the lower and base variants of the Hyundai Bayon.

In terms of size, the Hyundai Bayon clearly stands out among compact crossovers. It measures 4180 mm in length, 1775 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2580 mm, which is among the longest in its segment. The ground clearance of 183 mm ensures good usability on Indian roads.
Design-wise, the Bayon features a modern Hyundai-style front fascia with split LED lighting, a large honeycomb grille and silver skid plate elements. The side profile includes a sloping roofline, strong character lines and up to 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on top variants. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps, a roof spoiler, hybrid badging and sporty bumper detailing give the car a premium and youthful look.
The interior of the Hyundai Bayon is heavily inspired by the Hyundai i20, featuring a dual-tone black and peach theme with a driver-oriented dashboard layout. The base variant is likely to start between ₹7–8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top variant may go up to ₹11–12 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai has officially confirmed the model for India, with the expected launch scheduled for the first half of 2026.
