With mass production, BYD or Build Your Dreams, the largest manufacturer of NEVs in the world has achieved some success in the Asian Subcontinent through its subsidiary BYD India. The latest product offered by the company in India was Sealion 7 which was introduced earlier this year in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
BYD Sealion 7 has reached one of the biggest milestones in the country since it has recently surpassed the 2,000 units mark. Sealion 7 deliveries began in early March 2025 and in 8 months BYD Sealion has already reached this sales target. BYD India has also reported that Sealion 7 will increase its prices starting January 1st, 2026. We shall now have a more detailed examination of these developments.

BYD Sealion 7 Sales Introduces February 2025 BYD Sealion 7 has been able to attract Indian luxury SUV buyers thanks to the design, luxurious interiors and equipment it is offering. In these 8 months, BYD India has managed to sell more than 2,000 units of Sealion 7 in the country ever since the deliveries began in March 2025. This is about 250 units monthly and that is not bad considering a CBU vehicle. Sealion 7 is introduced in India through the CBU route and is presumably expected to be a Euro-spec model promoted as having 5 Star Euro NCAP crash safety rating. BYD India has the opportunity to import around 2,500 units in India annually without homologation and Sealion 7 appears to be filling the quotas rather well. BYD has approximately 47 showrooms in 40 big cities.
BYD Sealion 7 Price and Upcoming Price Hike
Price increase as of 1st January 2026 This is a high-end electric SUV that competes with such brands as Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX40, among others. Now BYD Sealion 7 costs between Rs 48.9 lakh (Ex-sh) with the base Premium trim and single motor RWD and Rs 54.9 lakh with the higher spec Performance trim with a dual-motor AWD. BYD India has declared that it will increase its prices with the Sealion 7 beginning on 1st January 2026. All the already booked buyers or the potential buyers booking it before 31st December 2025 will receive the price of Sealion 7 as above and the increased prices will only apply after 1st January 2026. BYD Sealion 7 Battery, Range and Performance
Sealion 7 is available with a standard 82.56 kWh battery pack and is claimed to travel approximately 567 km on a full charge. In Performance trim, Sealion 7 is available with a dual-motor AWD type of car with 523 bhp of maximum power and 690 Nm of maximum torque. It will accelerate to 100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds.
