Three new enthralling models will see Tata Motors consolidate its place in the sub-4 metre SUV market, which is very competitive. The company, which is expected to win a larger portion of the fast growing SUV market in India, is targeting the upcoming Tata Punch Facelift as well as the next-generation Nexon and an all-new SUV, the Scarlet. We can have a closer look at the 3 soon to be launched Tata SUVs which are below 10 lakh range and bound to be on Indian roads.
1. Tata Punch Facelift (Launch: November 2025)
The first model in Tata’s new wave will be the facelifted Tata Punch, arriving this November. The updated Punch will carry a refreshed design inspired by the Punch.ev, with new LED headlamps, tweaked bumpers, and stylish 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, buyers can expect a major tech upgrade – a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an advanced digital driver’s display, and improved cabin features. The SUV will continue with the reliable 1.2-litre petrol and CNG powertrain options, but this time, the CNG variant may also get an AMT gearbox, which was earlier limited to petrol trims.
2. Tata Nexon Next-Gen (Codename: Garud, Launch: 2027)
In 2027, India is receiving a next-gen model of the most successful compact SUV in India, the Nexon. The new Nexon is based on a X1 platform which has been updated and will focus on high-end features and technologies, with some of its expected features being a 12.3 inch infotainment system, power driver seat, and Level-2 ADAS to improve safety.
The 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG engine will probably be available with the Nexon and the diesel version might be scrapped because of the tightening of the BS7 emission standards. The new Nexon will be in a strong competition with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Kia Sonet since it will be under 10 lakh in price of the entry variants.
3. Tata Scarlet SUV (Launch: 2028)
The most thrilling of all these is most likely the upcoming Tata Scarlet SUV, a rough and yet metropolitan sub-4 metre SUV. The Scarlet will be constructed in a boxy and bold posture as is the case with the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny, but it will have an advantage of being monocoque as compared to its body on frame competitors in that it will be more comfortable to ride and consume less fuel.
The Scarlet is also being designed with electrification of the future in mind so we may one day see an electric Scarlet SUV to compete with the future models such as the Kia Syros EV. With an estimated cost of roughly 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom) this SUV will be positioned between the Nexon and Sierra in the Tata line-up, and is expected to come by 2028.
