The Yamaha Motor India has introduced the all new FZ-RAVE in India which further gives it a stronger foothold in the popular 150cc segment. At a price of Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) the FZ-RAVE is an aggressively styled, proven to be reliable, and regular rideable motorcycle, directly targeting the youthful, fashion conscious riders, who are looking to have both practicality and excitement. Yamaha also released a new scooter the XSR 155, and unveiled two new electric scooters Aerox E and EC-06 in India.
Bold Style and Fresh Design
The new FZ-RAVE is inspired by the high-quality FZ series by Yamaha, but this time there is a sharper, more muscular appearance in the streetfighter category. It has a complete-LED projector headlamp with inbuilt position light, an integrated sculpture fuel tank with cosmetic air vents and a small exhaust which adds sportiness to it.
It has one-piece seat and smooth LED tail lamp that both provide comfort and style when riding to work or in the weekend. The general design language is one that is very confident and street-ready without betraying the Yamaha design philosophy of Call of the Blue. Colour choices are- Matte Titan and Metallic black. The two shades are complemented by vivid graphics that are built with the direct response of young Indian customers to achieve the uttermost level of visual appeal.
Proven 149cc Engine and Reliable Performance
Proven 149cc Engine – PROVEN 149cc Engine – is a stable and efficient powerhouse of the Yamaha FZ-RAVE is a 149cc, air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve engine with 9.1 kW (12.4 PS) at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. This is an experienced engine that is fuel compatible with E20 and has got fuel injection technology that delivers power in an efficient and linear manner.
The engine is manipulated with a 5-speed gearbox, which provides smooth gear shifts and constant performance in the city traffic and on highways. The wet multi-disc clutch and electric starter are also added to make use in everyday life even more convenient.
Tough Chassis and Rider Confidence
Beneath, the FZ-RAVE is mounted on a diamond type frame with telescopic front forks and a rear swing arm mounted rear suspension, which has been tuned to provide a balance between comfort and handling. The motorcycle has a weight of 136 kg (kerb) with a ground clearance of 165 mm, thus being very suitable in Indian road conditions. The 13 lit fuel tank will give it a good range to cover both the day to day commuting and the weekend excursion.
At each end, hydraulic disc brakes are used since the braking is done with ABS that is single channel, this ensures that there is better control and safety in emergency braking. The tyre configuration that has been used is 100/80-17 (front) and 140/60-17 (rear) which gives a better grip and stability on the road.
