Indian two-wheeler market is still showing tremendous resilience, and the month of August 2025 was not an exception. As the demand of both scooters and motorcycles continues to grow, the recent sales statistics indicate the types of models that are overtaking the Indian roads. The competition is also still strong with Hero, Honda, TVS, and Bajaj, with the top 10 two-wheelers alone surpassing 12.5 lakh units with an annual growth of 11%.
Hero Splendor Leads the Pack
The Hero Splendor is still the best selling commuter motorcycle in India, with sales of 3,11,698 units in August 2025. This is an increase of close to 9,000 units over the previous year. The Splendor is reputed to be dependable, economical, and is used by daily commuters, first time riders, even fleet owners. Its homogeneity in different price levels strengthens its presence in the market.
Honda Activa is the Leader of Scooter Segment.
Honda Activa comes in second place, still being the most favored scooter in India as the units sold are 2,44,271, indicating an annual growth of 7.39 year-on-year. Its ease of handling, good brand recognition and popularity with all ages, make it a favourite with both families and urban commuters. Activa is the volume driver of Honda and it has been able to resist competition in the highly competitive scooter market.

Honda Shine Faces Minor Dip
Honda Shine, which is a bit higher priced commuter bike, sold 1,63,963 units, lower than 1,75,031 units in August 2024. Shine was third despite the 6.32% fall. It continues to sell well among office workers and urban commuters, but the growth has been slightly impacted by the growing competition in the 125cc market.
TVS Jupiter Records Huge Expansion.
The TVS Jupiter is one of the top cars in August 2025, with a sale of 1,42,411, a great 59.43 percent more than it sold last year. Its contemporary design, dependability and fuel efficiency has seen it gain popularity among buyers both in urban and semi-urban areas.
Bajaj Pulsar Basks in 61 percent growth.
The Pulsar series by Bajaj has also continued to impress the segment of performance bike riders with nearly 1,09,382 sales recording a 61% growth since August 2024. TVS Apache Records a Good Showing.
The TVS Apache also performed well during the month with sales of 45,038 units against 30, 038 the previous year, an increase of almost 50 percent. The strong demand of mid-range sport motorcycles in India is reflected by its popularity with riders who are performance oriented.
