September 2025 EV 2W sales in India witnessed a major shake-up as old players and start-ups competed fiercely to conquer the market.
In September 2025, the Indian electrical two-wheeler market underwent a significant disruption as old players and start-ups in the field compete to conquer the market.
This is the first time that Ather Energy beat Ola Electric by taking the third position in the monthly EV 2W sales. In the meantime, TVS Motor Company has been leading the industry and is still enjoying its competitive advantage.
TVS Retains No.1 Spot
TVS Motor Company according to Vahan sales data sold more than 20,000 electric scooters in September of 2025, retaining first place. The iQube series of the firm remains the best selling EV scooters range, which offers a strategic advantage to TVS in the competitive market.
Bajaj Overcomes Constraints, Holds Second Place
Bajaj Auto secured the second spot with 16,000+ unit sales in September, showing strong recovery after facing production constraints in August due to a shortage of rare earth magnets. With its Chetak EV range, Bajaj is consistently strengthening its EV market share and keeping competitors at bay.

Ather Energy Surpasses Ola Electric
Ather Energy registered a sale of more than 15,000 units in one of the most remarkable developments scooping the third position. Month upon month Ather was closing down on Ola Electric, and at last September came to turn the tide.
Ola Electric, however, was thumped to the fourth position, recording under 12000 units sales and continued to decline every month in the year 2025.
Hero MotoCorp Gains Traction With Vida
At the fifth spot, Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand crossed 11,000 units in September. Thanks to the introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model and aggressive marketing campaigns, Hero managed to push Vida’s popularity higher, closing in on Ola’s numbers.
Market Momentum Revived by Festive Season
Despite challenges like GST reduction on ICE vehicles and fluctuating consumer sentiment, the EV two-wheeler segment regained momentum with the start of Navratri festivities. Strong demand, combined with new finance and battery service options, has boosted sales across major brands.

Cumulative Jan–Sep 2025 Sales
While September’s monthly tally brought shifts in ranking, Ola Electric still retains the third spot in year-to-date (Jan–Sep 2025) sales:
- TVS Motor – Leading the segment (exact cumulative figures not disclosed)
- Bajaj Auto – Strong second
- Ola Electric – 1.6 lakh units (3rd overall despite September dip)
- Ather Energy – 1.3 lakh units (closing in fast)
- Hero MotoCorp (Vida) – Gaining ground rapidly
The electric two-wheeler battle in India is heating up. TVS and Bajaj continue to dominate, but Ather’s rise and Hero’s growing momentum are reshaping the industry dynamics.
