GST 2.0 Impact On Royal Enfield
The 40 percent GST rate targets larger motorcycles that exceed 350cc and this has had a direct effect of increasing the prices of the premium models of Royal Enfield. Meanwhile, the less powerful sub-350cc bikes such as the Classic 350 and Meteor 350 have also become cheaper and provide the consumer with a mixed blend.
The demand of Royal Enfield Scram 440, Guerrilla 450, and Himalayan 450 would not decline drastically with the increase in price, since this group of bikes is at the heart of RE new-gen strategy in India and other countries. Nevertheless, the increased entry price should have a minor influence on first-time premium motorcycle consumers.
