Mahindra Passes on GST 2.0 to its customers.
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M), the top Indian automaker of SUVs, have officially stated that they will pass on the complete benefits of GST 2.0 rates to customers starting on September 6, 2025.

This announcement comes after a simplified two-slab tax on automobiles was announced by the 56th GST Council meeting, led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Within the framework of this reform, smaller SUVs receive an 18% GST rather than a 29-31-percent tax, whereas larger SUVs such as Thar 4WD, Scorpio N, and XUV700 set their own rules with less than 40-percent GST taxes.
This tax cut is a direct reflection of massive price cuts throughout the Mahindra ICE SUV range, and cars such as the Thar, Scorpio, XUV700, XUV 3XO and Bolero are now affordable as never before.
Model-Wise Price Benefits
Mahindra has confirmed that it is the first brand of passenger vehicle in India to apply the benefits of the GST fully. Customers will be able to save 1.01 lakh to 1.56 lakh depending on the type.

Here’s the breakup of savings:
Bolero / Bolero Neo – Up to ₹1.27 lakh
XUV 3XO Petrol – Up to ₹1.40 lakh
XUV 3XO Diesel – Up to ₹1.56 lakh
Thar 2WD Diesel – Up to ₹1.35 lakh
Thar 4WD Diesel – Up to ₹1.01 lakh
Thar Roxx – Up to ₹1.33 lakh
Scorpio Classic – Up to ₹1.01 lakh
Scorpio N – Up to ₹1.45 lakh
XUV700 – Up to ₹1.43 lakh
Festive Season Demand To Soar.
Mahindra couldn’t have better timing to do this because the move will act as a booster to the demand of SUVs before the festive season. Offering lower prices below the ₹1 lakh mark, the new first-time buyers of the SUVs and the already loyal customers of Mahindra now have a good reason to upgrade or get a new SUV.

This is viewed by industry experts as a ground breaking tax reform, in a bid to ease the burden on consumers, improve sales and ease compliance. In the case of Mahindra, which is already a market leader in the SUV segment, such a price benefit will probably reinforce its leadership in the Indian market.
