KTM lovers, you heard it right. New spy shots authenticate that KTM is working on an entirely new line of two-cylinder Duke and Adventure motorcycles, which means a significant entry of the company into the middleweight bikes field. This is not the first time we have observed images and information about it and today it seems that more information will be spread in the next hours.

KTM Twin-Cylinder Bikes – What We Know So Far

Spotted in the recent spy shots are possible two prototypes, naked Duke and an Adventure KTM. Both prototype mules seem to be at an early- to mid-stage phase of development. Although, the engine casing is developed to a production model, the other bikes are still in temporary bodywork, dashboards and switches.

It is estimated based on the verification phase that this new bike may be 12–18 months before a worldwide launch.

Highlights of Adventure Bike

  • Huge windscreen and spoke-type wheels
  • Two-purpose tyres (probably, 21-18 or 19-17 configuration)
  • Overall travel top-box rack to tour with
  • High profile, off-road centric design

Duke Highlights

  • Angular good looks with alloy wheels
  • Split seat and a low-end tail unit
  • Aerated tyres (probably 17-inches on all four corners)
  • Sporty posture with additional urban and highway pleasure

Their similarity lies in such features as USD suspension, monoshock at the rear suspension, and top-exit exhaust.

KTM Twin-Cylinder Engine – Is it 490cc or 690cc?

The question that would be the greatest is which displacement would KTM select?

  • Initially KTM were to define a 490cc motorcycle in twin cylinder, but this project was said to be canceled, as costs of developing this engine were too big.
  • A 690cc twin-cylinder platform was later proposed, and planned to be manufactured in partnership with CFMoto in China.
  • Nevertheless, KTM has changed its approach once again whereby it is focusing on Made-in-India in order to make its products more affordable and meet the demands in countries such as Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

The spy photos have given evidence that the test bikes use a single disc on the front, indicating a smaller capacity twin-cylinder (perhaps nearer 490cc) as opposed to a larger 690cc.

Why the Middleweight Bikes at KTM are Important

The mid-sized motorcycle segment (500–700cc) is also warming up and Honda, Aprilia, BMW, TVS and Norton have all announced dragons in the market space. KTM entering the market here would offer a new possibility to those who are looking to the brand with precise specifications, performance, and a reasonably affordable price which is global as well.

As an entry-level bike, these could turn to be game-changers in India, as well as other developing economies given that it is priced competitively.

Launch Timeline

In an interview with Cyworld earlier, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer had already told that the Duke will be the first model to be launched, followed by an Adventure, but an RC is also possible. Depending on the development pace, these new-generation twin-cylinder KTMs might make their premiere late in 2026 or in early 2027.
